Preserving our natural environment and educating our community since 2006.
Who are we?
Virginia’s first and oldest Master Naturalist chapter!
Our chapter has a unique legacy. It was started in 1994 by Mike Hayslett and followed him through several Central Virginia communities, training over 200 individuals by 2006.
The Central Virginia Master Naturalists became the first chartered chapter in Virginia in 2006. With a moniker reflecting this distinction ("the Peaks View Pioneers"), the Central Virginia Chapter continues our training tradition that began some 20 years ago!
What do we do?
Our chapter’s members volunteer their time to:
Education & Outreach
Citizen Science
Stewardship
Where to begin?
To become a certified Master Naturalist and volunteer your time with us, you must complete our Basic Training Course. Our BTC is held once per year.
